In Andhra Pradesh, East India Mercy29 is spread abroad 5 developing cities functioning as 6 homes for orphaned children and widows, along with an educational society, a tailoring school for rescued women, a fellowship league of more than 70 Christian pastors, and a first-response disaster relief program that was developed during the floods of Asia in 2009.

As of May, 2010 Mercy29 India is 603 children and nearing 100 widows. Future plans include the purchase of several acres of land and the construction of a large-scale community home called the K.T.C. (Kingdom Transformation Center) that would house all 700+ children and widows, including a school and Christian church, (also to be attended by the local community) as well as additional space for farming projects like rice and vegetables.

We provide homes for orphaned children.
In each of our 6 children’s homes, all children, be they orphaned or semi-orphaned, receive free food, clean water, shelter, clothes, education and relevant supplies, and medical care as needed. Each child has a most interesting story and nearly all were rescued by our Mercy29 India team when found alone, half-naked and begging on the street side or in train stations. The U.N. claims that street children are one of the world’s most difficult problems estimating there are more than 250 million worldwide. Mercy29 is passionately serving to see these statistics decrease in the world’s youngest nation of India.

We rescue child slaves and prostitues.
In the State of Andhra Pradesh, some abolitionist estimate there are around 8 million children forced to work each day, often for 8-12 hours and no more than bread and water to eat and drink. Many girls are purchased for this task, regardless of their abilities to work effectively, because they may then be used as nightly prostitutes for those older men and their friends working in the same area. Contrary to some opinions on what is the most effective way to fight the slave trade globally, Mercy29 has and will continue to purchase the freedom of the children in the most horrific situations working within the slate rock and marble quarries in Andhra. In these not-so-unique situations, Mercy29 fights to remove AIDS-HIV infected children from these quarries, as well as those severely abused, sick, and overworked that would otherwise die quickly if no one were there to rescue them.

We provide free education to the communities we serve.
In May 2010, Mercy29 India is proud to announce the establishment of the Mercy29 Educational Society. Within the next school year, Mercy29 will open a FREE Christian school for up to 1,000 children. The Educational Society will not only provide education, but also 1 meal a day, as well as a new and beautiful school uniform.

Mercy29 also provides a free tailoring trade school for women and older girls interested in working within the textile industry. This program is always expanding! In the near future, we hope to enable those practicing within the school an opportunity to be involved in the production of our very own social enterprise, a Mercy29 clothing line!

We serve in the development of christian pastors and churches.
In 2009, Mercy29 India launched a “Pastor’s League” in Andhra Pradesh. The purpose of this fellowship is the spiritual development and Biblical education of the Christian leaders serving in India. There are many Christians in India, but not enough church locations for regular worship and fellowship. Less than two percent of India attend a Christian church regularly. Our goal is to plant 1,000 Christian churches within the nation in 5 years.
